IMMEDIATE SEALANT FOR LEAKING DRUMS AND TANKS
|
Leaking drums, tanks & pipes |
Immediate temporary seal |
Prevents catastrophic leakage |
Cementing action - full control |
Safe to use; inert with liquids |
Fuels & hazardous chemicals |
Non-toxic; non-flammable |
Sticks fast to greasy metal |
Hegseal is a firm but pliable premixed clay paste which is placed
directly over a leak from pipework or from a punctured drum or tank
of oil or organic chemicals, providing an immediate seal and avoiding
possibly catastrophic spills. It has excellent powers of adhesion
even to dirty, rusty or greasy metal surfaces. It will not contaminate
most contained liquids. It is NOT intended as a permanent seal. Damaged
containers or pipes temporarily sealed with Hegseal MUST be properly
drained and either disposed of or fully repaired before re-use. Hegseal
should be kept as an emergency standby wherever oils and chemicals
are piped or stored in drums or small unbunded tanks, against the
possibility of a puncture in the container or pipe metal which could
lead to costly and environmentally damaging spills of significant
volumes.
BENEFITS
- Easy and quick to apply
- Holds against pressure head of 1.8 m.
- Safe to use
- Very effective as a temporary sealant for periods of up
to 24 hrs.
- Sticks to greasy and rusty surfaces
- Avoids costly large-scale and dangerous spills and their
consequences (hazard, clean-up, damages)
- Shelf life of twelve months if stored out of direct sunlight
and not in excessive heat.

APPLICATIONS
- Industrial premises with small fuel tanks, chemical storage
or pipework
- Farms: fuel and lub. storage, unbunded tanks
- Construction and civil engineering sites
- Chemical plant, refineries, drilling rigs
- Automotive and engineering workshops with drums of lubs.,
anti-freeze, waste oil etc

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Check that stored Hegseal remains pliable. If it is dry and rigid,
it should be discarded, if not contaminated, to solid waste landfill.
(Contaminated Hegseal should be disposed of according to the contaminant.)
As soon as a leak is detected, apply Hegseal. To protect the hands
against the leaking liquid, put on protective gloves. For a large
puncture, the whole tub may be needed. For smaller punctures, apply
a smaller piece and apply swiftly and firmly to the side of the pipe,
tank or drum directly over the leaking hole. Press home, thus working
some of the Hegseal into the fissure. Leaking will then stop. Assess
damage already caused by initial leakage, and take necessary clean-up
measures with e.g. Hegfloor, Hegrem or Hegol as appropriate. Begin
immediately to prepare for removal of liquid from damaged container,
and arrange for alternative safe storage and repair or disposal of
damaged drum in accordance with regulations.
Do not leave Hegseal in place for more than 48 hours: it is NOT intended
to be a permanent sealant.
