Hegacid will not only safely absorb and encapsulate
but also stabilise and partly neutralise even concentrated acids, without
spattering or any violent reaction. It can then be safely handled for
removal or complete neutralisation by standard treatments. Half a kilo
of Hegacid will effectively absorb over three litres of acid.
BENEFITS
* One of the safest and fastest ways of absorbing and stabilising
spilled acids
* Single process for making spilled acids safe for disposal
* Suppresses acid odours
* Enhances safety and heath at work
* Minimises risk of dangerous environmental impacts resulting from
acid spills
* Absorption and part-neutralisation occur without spattering
* No cumbersome precautions during use
* Saturated product can be incinerated if permitted, yielding 15,000
BTU per kilo, with 5% ash
APPLICATIONS
Battery manufacturers: Essential means of dealing with large
and small spills of battery acid
Chemical companies: Standby supplies for leakage and spills
in production, transportation and storage
Manufacturing, engineering: Routine cleaning of acid residues;
standby for acid spills
Road transport and fleet servicing: Use for battery acid spills
during maintenance
Scientific laboratories: Standby supplies for occasional spills
Emergency services: Removal of acids spilled in road accidents
involving acid-tankers
Motor garages and vehicle-breaking yards: Cleaning of residues
and dealing with spills of battery acid
Printed circuit board manufacturers: Acid spills
ABSORPTION & STABILISATION OF SPILLED ACIDS
When dealing with acid spills, wear protective gloves
and breathing mask or respirator as directed.
Spread Hegacid in the form a containment barrier around
the source of the spill. Once the acid is contained, place Hegacid
directly over the contained liquid. Absorption will take place without
spattering. Use enough Hegacid to ensure complete absorption. Acidic
vapours will very quickly be suppressed, and the acid will be completely
encapsulated within the absorbent fibres. Hegacid will partly neutralise
acids. The absorbed acid may then be removed for disposal, in accordance
with regulations and practice applicable to the site in question.
Hegacid is available in bags of 11 kilos. This is enough to deal with
up to 67 litres of acid.
