Oil spills
on floors
For spills of ANY oil on any hard floor surface, Hegfloor
offers unrivalled absorbency, and economy of use. It also cuts down
VOCs and acts as a fire retardant, and is non-abrasive, so will not
damage painted or sealed floors (unlike granular clay absorbents). Slip
hazards are removed quickly and easily. Absorbed oil can be composted
on site, removing the need for costly disposal.
For best results, use Hegfloor with a Hegfloor
Ecocycle Composting Unit, our wheeled dispensing/recycling/composting
unit designed for use on factory and workshop floors. Hegfloor absorbent
is brought quickly and easily to the spill site, unsaturated absorbent
is reclaimed for later use, and saturated absorbent is tipped "hands
free" into the integrated composting unit [click here
for details].

Oil spills
on water
Oil spills onto water, or oil that has seeped indirectly into water,
can be contained and absorbed using biodegradable booms,
or in some circumstances using Hegsorb
loose. Both products, including the absorbed/encapsulated oil, can be
bioremediated on site, or, subject to local permissions, incinerated
- in either case, you save on costly off-site disposal. Hegsorb, which
is also used to fill the booms, will absorb up to 12 times its own weight
in oil and is hydrophobic.

Oil/water
separation
Biodegradable Hegsorb can
be used loose, or packed in pillows, in a variety of oil/water separating
applications. Pillows will sit
on top of oil/water separator tanks and selective absorb the oil. Once
saturated, the pillows can be replaced and biodegraded on-site. Hegsorb
can also be built into filters in effluent streams, drain covers, and
other applications. Follow these links, or call us on (+44) 01763 287
749 to discuss how Hegsorb's extremely high oil absorbency and very
low water absorbency can be built into your site-specific applications.

Cleaning deep-stained
floors
Oil-stained concrete can be difficult to clean because the oil lodges
in very fine cracks and pores from which it is not easily dislodged
by conventional cleansers. Hegol
and Hegsurf.dc can solve
the problem by bioremediating the oils in situ, using bioremediating
bacteria which follow the oil into the cracks and pores in the concrete.

Parts-washing
Self-remediating parts-washing fluids mean that oil in the fluid is
constantly being bioremediated and thus effectively removed without
the need to replace the parts-washing fluid. By reducing the need to
replace the liquids, you are of course saving money. Both Hegsurf.pw
and Hegparts are self-remediating
parts-washing fluids, and both contain rust inhibitors.

De-greasing
Our range of safe, biodegradable degreasers include Hegol
(with pre-mixed bioremediating bacteria); Hegparts
and Hegsurf.dc (with bioremediating
bacterial bran to be added at time of use); Hegsurf.pw
(with rust inhibitor and bioremediating bacterial bran to be added at
time of us); and non-bacterial degreasers: Hegsurf.gp
for general purpose de-greasing; Hegflight,
solvent-free and specially formulated and approved for washing aircraft;
Hegsolv, safe blend of degreasing
solvents; and Hegwash (pre-diluted
multi-purpose cleaner).

Absorbent
booms socks and pillows
These products can be used on concrete under or around machines or
pipeworks to contain and absorb drips and spills; or tethered on water
to contain spillages and remove oil from the surface of water. Work
in tanks, lagoons, ponds/lakes, marinas, etc. Click
here for more details.

Emergency sealant
Protect yourself against the risk of leaking or punctured drums, tanks
or pipes with Hegseal emergency
sealant, which will stick to oily or rusty surfaces, even under pressure.
Punctures and leaks are contained for at least 24 hours, giving you
time to pump out or remove remaining liquid.

Spill
response kits
Various Spill kits, including
absorbents, booms, socks, protective gloves, breathing mask, disposal
bags, etc., can be bought 'off the shelf', or can be made up to your
specific requirements. On-vehicle kits are available designed to fit
behind driver's seats; larger kits are available in bags, or in 120
or 240 litre mobile bins or large static storage bins. Own livery can
be printed on on bags and bins to order.

Bioremediation
of contaminated land
Hydrocarbon-contaminated land can be bioremediated in-site using Hegrem,
which will also immobilise and absorb oil, without leaching, preventing
further contamination. Made from recycled agricultural waste.
Land or sludges contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons can be also
be bioremediated, using Hegboost.ch.

Waste Minimisation
The HEG products can help you minimise the amount of waste for off-site
disposal.
Our biodegradation-first approach means that not only are our absorbents
and degreasers biodegradable, but also that absorbed oil can be bioremediated
on-site (e.g. in our Hegfloor
Ecocycle Composting Unit). The amount of contaminated waste for
disposal can thus be reduced, in many cases to zero.
Extend the working life of coolants, soluble cutting oils, or other
liquids, by using Hegsorb to
remove contaminating tramp oils, which can then be bioremediated on-site.
Extend the working life of parts-washing liquids by using our self-remediating
Hegsurf.pw or Hegparts
in your parts-washers: both contain bioremediating bacteria, and so
oil is constantly being degraded and removed from the parts washing
liquid. Both liquids also contain rust inhibitor.

Grease
traps
Biodegrade solidified grease in grease traps using Hegtrap
- avoids the use of harsh chemicals and actually breaks down the grease
rather than merely dislodging it to be re-deposited further downstream.

Acid spills
Contain, stabilise and absorb spilled acids with Hegacid,
which will also suppress acidic fumes and part-neutralise the acid to
make it safe for handling.

Safe solvents
Hegsolv is a blend of solvents
and surfactants which avoid the environmental and health and safety
problems of many other solvents on the market. Used for heavy-duty degreasing
and removal of a variety of industrial inks, greases, glues, paints,
etc.

Paint stripper
Hegstrip is a blend of powerful
solvents and surfactants which avoid the environmental and health and
safety problems of many other paint strippers on the market. Hegstrip
will remove dried paints, cured adhesives, caked grease etc.

Health & Safety
The HEG products can help your business improve workplace health and
safety in a number of ways.
Firstly, all our products are non-toxic and safe to use. Harsher
chemicals and dangerous dust producing absorbents are avoided in favour
of products which minimise dermatological reactions and irritant or
toxic fumes. (See for example Hegfloor
(absorbent) and Hegsolv (safe
solvent).)
Secondly, the HEG products will help you maintain a safer, cleaner
workplace: cutting down spill slip hazards, VOCs and fire risk (Hegfloor
and Oil Spill Response Kits);
cleansing of oil and grime from hard surfaces (Hegsurf.gp);
general workplace cleaning (Hegwash);
and safe, thorough removal of grime and grease from hands (Heghand).

Environmental Quality
and Compliance
The HEG products are environmentally benign, manufactured where possible
from recycled or reclaimed waste materials. They are also themselves
biodegradable, and ecologically safe.
They will also help you reduce the environmental impact of on-site
products, processes and wastes. Our biodegradable bagged absorbents
(Hegfloor and Hegsorb)
and absorbent booms allow spilled
oil to be bioremediated on-site, and we supply a mobile composting unit
(Ecocycle) for the purpose.
Deep-stained concrete and other difficult oil cleaning problems can
be achieved simply through our bioremediating liquids such as Hegol
and Hegsurf.dc, which biodegrade
oily contaminants rather than using harsh chemicals to disperse them,
and are themselves biodegradable.
Oil-on-water problems can be resolved using Hegsorb,
which absorbs up to 12 times its own weight in oil but will not absorb
water. It can be used in filter applications as an oil-water separator,
for example in effluent pipes or separator tanks and sumps, or on open
water where oil is present on ponds, lakes, marinas, reservoirs, etc.
It can be used loose or in pillows
and booms, according to site requirements.
Hydrocarbon-contaminated land problems can be tackled effectively and
efficiently with Hegrem and
Hegboost, which allow the
on-site bioremediation of contaminated land.
A range of oil spill response
kits, and emergency sealant,
will help you prevent spills occurring, and to minimise the cleanup
costs where they do occur.
